A Picture at Auction, for Rett Syndrome

A portrait client of mine* asked if I’d donate a piece for auction at the 2014 Reverse Festival – a Nottinghamshire-based (UK) event helping to raise much-needed funds for research into Rett Syndrome. Here’s the one-off print submitted, a piece worked from photographs taken last October, when we were lucky enough (really, very lucky) to stay in a villa in a particularly fabulous region of the South of France. In the grounds, I was drawn to the configuration of chairs around a terrace table – suggesting simultaneously both abandonment and preparedness; and wanted to make a very staged-like and theatrical representation of this. Perhaps I just miss those boardroom meetings…

I’m happy to say that the picture was sold at the auction. And also delighted to share links to both the festival’s Facebook page – here, and a link to more information about Rett Syndrome – here.

*portraits and more can be seen at my Picture Window gallery site.

About Stevie Mitchell

I come from a long line of cartoons and beer. I was once peed on by a tiger. Hoping the resultant super-powers are yet to come, cos if these are they, then, grrrr....
